Conscious Recovery Institute: Launching Summer 2026

Co-Founders, Dr. Patrick Lockwood and TJ Woodward share a powerful mission - to revolutionize behavioral healthcare through deeper healing and innovation. Together, they are proud to introduce the Conscious Recovery Institute, a collaborative initiative dedicated to transforming the field.

Conscious Recovery Institute offers a transformative philosophical framework that empowers clinicians to cultivate a sacred space for authentic connection. This approach enables them to truly understand their clients and address the root causes of addiction and mental health challenges-uncovering the underlying trauma, shame, spiritual disconnection, and lack of worthiness that drive maladaptive behaviors.

"Conscious Recovery has a way of boiling down things down into practical approaches. Honestly, this is better than what I learned in my graduate program."

- Chris Davidson

The Problem

The behavioral health industry is grappling with significant challenges that affect access, care quality, and overall effectiveness. These issues have profound financial consequences, costing organizations hundreds of thousands of dollars annually. Key concerns include high staff turnover and burnout, clients leaving against medical advice, and fluctuations in the average length of stay.

Our Solution

Conscious Recovery helps behavioral healthcare programs save thousands of dollars annually by offering powerful, transformative methods that foster client healing while rejuvenating clinicians to prevent burnout, overwhelm, and fatigue. These benefits lead to lower staff turnover, reduced burnout, fewer clients leaving against medical advice, and an increase in the average length of stay.

Three brown circles with white text. The first circle says "Tech. Learning" with a description about dynamic, immersive training for techs, counselors, and support staff. The second circle says "Staff Development" with a description about assisting clinical teams in creating greater achievement with clients. The third circle says "Client Retention" with a description about providing online and in-person learning to reduce AMA rates. Below the circles, there is a paragraph explaining that Conscious Recovery provides in-person conferences, clinical training, and online learning experiences to enhance clinicians' skills and improve clinical effectiveness.

"Our clinicians who were actively trained by TJ just loved it and are so enthusiastic about it that the rest of the clinical team is now clamoring for more training."

- Jen Carvalho

Created by TJ Woodward and Dr. Patrick Lockwood, these immersive online learning experiences introduce a revolutionary approach to clinical practice. Unlike conventional training that focuses primarily on symptoms and behaviors, these learning experiences emphasize the healing power of deep attunement and authentic human connection. When clinicians hold space with presence and compassion, they can guide clients toward uncovering the root causes of addiction and mental health struggles—such as unresolved trauma, shame, spiritual disconnection, and feelings of unworthiness.
